The Danish NGO FORUM is a Danish membership body for non-profit organisations (NGOs) working in international development.
Established in 2007, NGO FORUM now has over 50 member organisations ranging from large bodies with a world-wide presence to smaller, specialist organisations working in certain regions or with specific groups of people. The NGO FORUM was established to strengthen the cooperation between the Danish organisations and facilitate active engagement between the Danish civil society organisations, the politicians and governmental bodies as well as the media. The NGO FORUM is governed by a board (the standing committee) with 20 organisations represented – many of whom are represented by the secretary general or head of international department. This committee is convened 6 to 10 times a year.
The Danish NGO FORUM furthermore has the authority to grant the Danida financed support to Danish civil society networks, it runs a number of working groups to raise capacity and awareness on a number of selected development issues. You can read a short introduction to the pool funding and the three strategic priorities here.
NGO FORUM supports the campaign “The World's Best News”, a campaign aiming at showing the public that development work actually has an impact on world poverty.
